Al Benner

In many ways, Al has followed his father’s moss-covered path, staying closely connected with nature through gardening, landscaping and business. After graduating with a BS degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Al worked in the landscape design and nursery industry, then returned to school part time to earn his MBA from LaSalle University.

In addition to launching Moss Acres in 2000, Al, an entrepreneur and idea guy, has built and headed two other national mail order or web-based companies serving the home gardener, landscape professional and commercial grower markets. As head of Moss Acres, he experiments with and develops new applications for moss and does other “product development” to meet the ever-increasing popularity of moss products and accessories. For years now, Al has been touting all the benefits of moss in radio interviews, TV appearances and seminars. In his spare time, Al is actively involved in building an off-grid, ecologically-focused residential community in Costa Rica (www.FincaLasBrisas.org).
